The United Nations Development Programme is hiring a Special Assistant to the Head of Office for Maputo.
Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA’s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Field Coordination Unit in the OCHA Mozambique – Cabo Delgado Sub-Office in Pemba, the National Humanitarian Affairs Officer will be responsible for supporting the overall humanitarian coordination, emergency preparedness and response in Mozambique through the national Inter-Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG).
Under the guidance of Head of Office (HoO), the Special Assistant to the HoO performs the major tasks of administration, logistical and programme support to HoO. The main role is to support the HoO, ensuring smooth functioning of the OCHA Mozambique Country Office operations, consistent service delivery and constant evaluation and readjustment of the operations to take into account changes in the operating environment, as and when needed.
