The Yard Manager assumes overall responsibility for the yard activities in Beira and assist in the supervision of operations activities. The Yard Manager is generally responsible for the department during the 7-day week.
Description
Outline of duties:
- Manage all yard activities such as gate moves, weighbridge activities, traffic flow, bulk and bagged cargo offloading, including stuffing & stripping of containers, longstanding units, stack planning and x-haulage;
- Ensure detention and demurrage avoided by continuous monitoring of container activities;
- Evaluate daily all operational procedures for the yard to ensure quick truck turn-around times and other efficiencies to deliver a high-quality product;
- Plan daily activities with Yard Controllers to ensure personnel and equipment allocated accordingly;
- Maintain HSES standards for the site in accordance with local legislation;
- Managing and checking all inventory records and making evaluation reports;
- Ensure anti-theft and fraud procedures are in place to protect company’s and client’s assets;
- Setting and allocating targets to operational staff and organizing staff training;
- Auditing daily labor and billing statements;
- In conjunction with the Warehouse Manager (during vessel operations);
- Plan traffic flow to eliminate bottlenecks;
- Plan equipment & staff allocations to ensure both activities have adequate resources;
- Report on the activities to the Operations Manager on an ongoing basis.

Hard Skills – Background / Technical Competences
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Products;
- Drivers License;
- Fluent in English and Portuguese;
- 2 years practical work experience in logistics/ terminal field;
- Degree in Terminal Management or Logistics.
