To contribute for the improvement of the nutrition status of the population by strengthening the national capacity in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of interventions to improve the health and nutritional status, by building effective partnerships for an integrated and multisectoral approach to respond to the double burden of malnutrition.
Under the overall guidance of the WHO Country Representative, the National Professional Officer – Nutrition and Food Security (N&FS), provides technical assistance to national authorities and health and nutrition partners in all aspects of Nutrition and Food Security as follows:
Essential: First University Degree in Nutrition, or Public health, Nutritional Epidemiology, Policy and/or management, or other health related science field is required.
Desirable: Training in Public Health; child Health, Integrated management of Childhood illnesses, Infant and Young Child Nutrition, Integrated management of acute malnutrition, Health Programme Management or Epidemiology will be of advantage.
Essential: A minimum of five years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, related research or Planning and management in relevant areas of maternal, infant and child nutrition.
Desirable: Minimum one (1) year of programming experience in specialized area like stunting reduction, SUN movement, emergency nutrition response etc.
Essential: Expert knowledge of Portuguese.
Desirable: Working knowledge of English.
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 47,440 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
