The British Council Sub Saharan Africa has three exciting job opportunities for experienced Teaching Centre Managers in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Senegal. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing the growth of the existing Teaching businesses in these countries. The post holders will ensure that regional and local strategy is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon. They will create an organisational structure for these Centres that reflects British Council values, and UK/regional and local policy, practice, goals and priorities.
The Teaching Centre Managers provides professional leadership to the local Teaching Centre team and clearly demonstrates the ability to motivate, influence and shape individuals in order to assure continuous programme development and improvement. The post holder must show competency in the areas of leadership, business development, planning and improving curriculum and instruction, developing policy and procedures, people management and development and relationship management.
These posts are part of and accountable to the country leadership teams and they have a key role in the implementation of change and business growth initiatives. The Teaching Centre Manager works under the day to day supervision of the Country Director and is line managed by Business Development Manager Teaching, SSA. He/she maintains a co-operative relationship with the wider management team and centre personnel, specifically, Exams and EES, Marketing and Customer Service and customers – including parents and partners.
Post holders will be based in Maputo, Mozambique, Dakar, Senegal or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The post holder will be expected to manage and grow the existing business. To balance costs, quality and value; build strong relationships with customers – including parents and partners; develop a fully integrated offer across all SSA which means developing the quality of teaching and learning including the relevant administrative and academic systems and processes and shared systems for financial management and reporting, HR, premises management, marketing and resources.
