PATH is currently implementing, with the funds from Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Scaling-up Early Childhood Development (S-ECD) project in 8 districts of Maputo province. The project aims to integrate nutrition and Early Childhood Development (ECD) counseling for caregivers of children 0-3 in the clinical and waiting room services at health facilities, and in the home visits carried out by community health workers (CHWs).
The programmatic activities include supporting Health Facilities (HFs) and CHWs with skills and materials to verify developmental milestones, to counsel, individually and in group setting, on how to promote good nutrition and development of the child at home, to set up and run play-box activities in the waiting rooms, among others. The intern will assist the program team with technical and logistical activities related to project implementation and in the process will obtain hands-on experience in the ECD field for children aged 0-3, which is an underdeveloped ECD sector in Mozambique.
The intern will interact directly with intended beneficiaries and with project implementers (CHWs, nurses, etc.) at community and health facility educational activities (such as video and play-box sessions, and commemorative days) and training events. The intern will support the project with production of play materials and by managing stock of training materials and will improve skills in data collection, entry and analysis.
