The Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund is seeking a highly qualified public financial management (PFM) expert for the position of resident PFM advisor, based in Maputo, Mozambique. This project is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The selected candidate is expected to start his/her assignment in September 2020, initially a period of one year, subject to renewal. She/he will work under the technical supervision of the Fiscal Affairs Department.
The resident advisor will work within the Ministry of Finance to building overall institutional capacity in the following areas:
Applicants should hold a university degree or equivalent qualification relevant to the above duties; have a minimum of 10 years experience in a finance ministry or international organization, possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Portuguese; have well developed analytical and research skills; be proficient in standard office IT applications (such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and have experience in capacity development.
Applicants should also possess excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivating and have an ability to work as part of a team, an aptitude for establishing cooperative relations and sharing technical knowledge with national authorities, as well as capacity to handle sensitive issues with discretion. A flexible and adaptable approach will also be essential in what is a fast moving and challenging work environment.
Qualified candidates, not selected for this position, may be considered for short-term assignments or other resident advisor positions.
