Project Manager – Wutomi Full-Time

Accountabilities

• Manages the carrying out of baseline studies and the implementation of Project Review Findings and establish strategic priorities for program changes based on the findings;
• Monitors project implementation through regular visits, meetings with community and other stakeholders and make informed decisions as necessary;
• Ensure the collection, storing & management and analysis of good data to inform decision making;
• Coordinates all actions with community volunteers, and integrate project objectives/activities with volunteers and provides training as necessary;
• Leads project staff, builds the capacity of staff and communities through training and identifies gaps in performance and coaches towards good performance;
• Guides and leads the project team in monitoring and checking of budget and expenditure, as required by the specific donor and also utilize SAP as a monitoring tool, coordinates with the PUM Finance department for budget allocation and modifications;
• Prepares all monthly, quarterly and annual project work plans and reports required by Plan Mozambique and the donor and by other project stakeholders and beneficiaries as appropriate;
• Document experiences and lessons learned through participatory approaches and coordinate with Plan Mozambique Communications lead in the dissemination of such learning;
• Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Key relationships

To maximize overall project impact and optimize contribution of others the post holder will be required to initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships externally with government counterparts, FLNO, implementing partners and other development organizations and internally with Program Unit Manager, PU Accountant, Program Quality Manager, Finance Manager, Communications Officer, Gender and Advocacy Coordinator and MER Specialist

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

• Degree in Social Sciences/Education or equivalent related discipline;
• 8 years’ work related experience on Early Childhood Development at national or provincial levels;
• Knowledge and Experience in project management cycle;
• Strong experience in report writing;
• Familiarity with national policies and programmes in Childhood development;
• Ability to prioritize work effectively for execution with limited resources;
• Ability to work independently without close supervision;
• Strong planning and organizational skills;
• Programme management skills with excellent grasp of programming concepts
• Analytical skills;
• Communication skills;
• High level advocacy skills;
• Facilitation and negotiation skills;
• Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications

Desirable

• Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or other equivalent;
• Very strong project management competencies.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Position entails 50% working in the communities so there are frequent travels to the field and exposed to hot and windy climate so the post holder may require sun glasses.

LEVEL OF CONTACT WITH CHILDREN

Low contact: No contact or very low frequency of interaction

Mid contact: Occasional interaction with children

High level: Frequent interaction with children.

Annual remuneration – 3.118.208,00MT
