Norwegian People’s Aid is seeking a Project Manager for Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) in Mozambique.
Armed conflict represents a destructive force which can devastate communities, displace countless people, and destabilize entire regions. NPA’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by war and the use of explosive weapons. NPA currently has 22 Mine Action and Disarmament programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East and is implementing its Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) programme with the aim of improving community resilience and preparedness in the face of protracted armed conflict risk.
Do you want to join our professional and committed global team in our mission to protect civilians from explosive weapons?
Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has been in Mozambique since 1984, initially in humanitarian support to Mozambican refugees in Zimbabwe, and drought-stricken populations in Tete province. NPA ran large demining programs from 1993 – 2006, and again from 2012 – 2017. NPA currently works closely with 18 local civil society organizations on issues of land rights, just distribution of natural resources, and the organizing and mobilization of small-scale farmers. In parallel, we work with climate change adaptation and agricultural conservation, to ensure sustainable livelihoods for small-scale farmers. Since 2021, NPA has had a stand-alone emergency Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) programme in Cabo Delgado, as well as an Ammunition Management and Destruction (AMD) programme in Nacala. NPA’s Mozambique main office and the Southern Africa regional office are in Maputo, with a sub-office in Tete and a shared office in Pemba. NPA is now seeking to establish a new humanitarian intervention in northern Mozambique under its Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) programme, which focuses on improving community resilience against armed conflict and empowering individuals to be better prepared and protected in the event of a crisis.
A position in the Norwegian labour movement’s global humanitarian solidarity organisation. NPA strives for diversity, gender equality and encourages candidates of all nationalities, backgrounds and gender to apply. We aim for an inclusive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported. In addition, we are continuously working towards reducing our environmental impact in all our interventions.
An exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in our programme in Mozambique. Comprehensive salary package including country-specific allowances and insurance scheme.
Please note that this position is subject to pending funding.
Salary and allowances are subject to income tax according to Mozambican tax law. The working conditions, including annual leave, follow relevant national labour laws and NPA Mozambique country programme policies.
