Project Director Full-Time

Gemeinschaft Sant’Egidio e.V. – Comunity of Saint’ Egidio is hiring a Project Director.

Projektbezeichnung: “Aufbau und Stärkung von Strukturen in den nördlichen Provinzen Mosambiks zur Förderung der Schulbildung und des friedlichen Zusammenlebens“ – Development and strengthening of structures in the northern provinces of Mozambique to promote education and peaceful coexistence.

Objective of the position

• He/she will be responsible for the supervision of all land project activities.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• The Project Director (PD) is responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring and supervision
  of the project. The PD manages, coordinates and supervises the national project staff for the
  implementation of the activities, ensuring their quality in accordance with the project timeline, as well as
  compliance with standard operating procedures, in line with principles of international law, guidelines
  relevant to the project and donor issues, and the Code of Ethics of the Community of Sant'Egidio.

Main Tasks

The project director should:

• Plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the project, ensuring quality and on-time results in the area of protection.
• Draw up and submit regular reports, as well as ensuring the collection of data and submission of reports according to the timeframe set out in the terms of reference.
• Supervise the collection of financial and accounting documents.
• Maintain and/or strengthen relationships with local authorities, non-state actors, UN agencies, NGOs and donors relevant to the project at ground level.
• Coordinate with the finance and logistics departments for procurement activities (purchases, services, etc.) required for the implementation of activities and ensure adequate supplies in areas relevant to the project.
• Monitor project and area activities and share information with the Country Coordinator, administrative contact persons and the Regional Management.

Requirements of the position

• Managerial and technical capacity for project implementation, including management of procurement and contracts to third parties, selection and training of staff, financial monitoring of expenditure in relation to expected results and project activities.
• Excellent knowledge of Portuguese.
• Excellent knowledge of English.
• Excellent problem solving and stress resilience skills.
• At least 3 years in the field of international cooperation.
• Preferably an academic/professional background in social sciences.
• Previous experience (at least 5 years) in project management financed by institutional donors.
• At least 5 years working in a developing country preferably East Africa.
