Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) is part of the Protestant Agency for Diaconia and Development, an umbrella-organisation with a nation-wide established Social Service Agency, one of the biggest welfare institutions in Germany, and is headquartered in Berlin/Germany. DKH is mandated with worldwide humanitarian aid. For more than 60 years assistance is rendered to people in need within man-made or natural caused disasters and armed conflicts regardless of race, creed or nationality of the recipients and without adverse distinction of any kind.
DKH is a member of ACT Alliance. Through its membership with ACT, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe is co-signatory of the Code of Conduct for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements and NGOs in disaster relief.
DKH has been working through its (implementing) partner organisations in Southern Africa for decades. Heavy cyclones having hit especially Mozambique, relief and recovery projects in the affected districts are under way and DKH is launching its rehabilitation programme to support affected communities beyond immediate relief and early recovery activities. The purpose of the deployment is to strengthen the ongoing response to Cyclone Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique and to accompany the local partner(s) to ensure overall quality and effectiveness of the relief and rehabilitation projects as well as set up a sustainable program during the deployment period. The project coordinator shall provide support and guidance to the implementing partner(s) in Mozambique and ensures bridging between donors or ACT Alliance or Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe Headquarters and the implementing partner(s). The coordinator shall work with relevant stakeholders and advise DKH programming for Mozambique.
All projects in Mozambique are implemented by local partner organisations. As a member of the ACT Alliance, this includes projects funded via the ACT Alliance network. Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe provides support and guidance to the implementing partners. The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the project management of the implementing partner(s). In collaboration with the partner organisation(s), he/she qualifies the project activities and reporting on the relief, early-recovery and rehabilitation efforts. He/she is following the objective that all projects are implemented according to DKH and donor guidelines, are of high quality, meet the needs of the beneficiaries and are completed in timely manner, within budgets.
The Project Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the partner organisation. S/he provides support to recovery and rehabilitation efforts and new programming of the partner(s) for the disaster affected population in Mozambique.
S/he is responsible for ensuring that the projects are implemented with local partners according to DKH and donor guidelines and quality standards, in line with the needs of the beneficiaries and completed in timely manner within the budget. Project Coordinator plays key role in identifying and solving the problems to ensure successful implementation of the operation.

This position is based in Beira with frequent travels to field/ project sites and Maputo in Mozambique. The remuneration will follow internationally accepted standards.
