Operations Superintendent Full-Time

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the position is to support the Operations Manager in all operations activities in Puma Mozambique, including but not limited to assessment of day-to-day activities of third-party storage and handling terminals, B2B site operations and HSE compliance, operations and HSE internal and external training.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5-10 years’ proven experience in petroleum Downstream Logistics, Transport and Operations activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply and logistics, or related field that would provide a strong background is an advantage.
• Ability to effectively interface with management at all levels as well as contacts outside the organization.
• Problem solver with excellent ability to analyse challenges and independently propose solutions.
• Hands-on professional and results driven on operational excellence and customers’ satisfaction.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Fluent in Portuguese. English will be a strong advantage.

Key Relationships and Department Overview

• Management of day to day field tasks of the Operations department and standing in for the Operations Manager from time to time.
• Anticipating and tracking potential operational issues and proposing solutions.
• Coordinating day to day operations of third-party storage terminals to ensure agreed KPIs are adhered to.
• Representing Puma Mozambique in pre-berth meetings in the interests of the company.
• Occasionally participating in pre-offloading ship-shore agreement meetings as a Loading Master.
• Supporting Supply and other different Business departments in stocks and inventory reconciliations at all owned and third-party storage & handling terminals and depots.
• Supporting B2B in setting up process and procedures for consignment sites.
• Continuous training of consignment stock sites staff in tank dipping, sampling, product calculations as per API MPMS standards.
• Ensuring strong HSE culture and performance in country operations.
• Assisting the Operations Manager in setting up and maintaining smart dashboards and KPIs to measure and demonstrate continuous improvement on operational excellence.
