Onshore Site Planning Lead Engineer Full-Time

Our Client is developing Mozambique’s first LNG Park which will meet the increasing world demand for a sustainable, reliable and cleaner source of energy. They are currently in need of an Onshore Site Planning Lead.

Job Summary

Onshore Site Lead Planning Engineer is based at Afungi, Mozambique, working on a 28/28 rotation and residing within the Afungi Project Camp.  This position reports to the Onshore Project Controls Supervisor and is an integral part of the Onshore Project Controls team.

Responsibilities

To supervise the MZLNG Onshore Site Planning team and ensure delivery of a robust and effective planning and progress measurement system to control, monitor and report the progress of the work associated with the Construction and Commissioning of the facilities.

• Specify, implement and maintain robust and effective planning, progress measurement and reporting procedures;
• Supervise, train and develop as required, the planning team to ensure that staff have the required standard and competencies;
• Oversight of the planning, progress measurement and reporting activities of all Execution Contractors;
• Preparing planning and progress status reports for Management which provide full visibility of all trends and highlight any deviations from the plan;
• Preparing the necessary project planning and scheduling procedures and support to Value Assurance Framework, PDP, PEP and/or another project documentation;
• Supporting consultants engaged to carry out periodical Schedule Risk Analyses;
• Utilize Continuous Improvement processes to ensure consistent quality and fit-for-purpose outcomes;
• Input and analyze data in the Planning applications to ensure project data integrity;
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety, safe working practices, etc. Understand and follow project HSE procedures;
• Other tasks as required by Project Controls Supervisor;
• Ensures Company guidelines and processes are implemented and followed within the project.

Qualifications/Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of Fifteen (15) years’ experience in engineering and construction within the oil and gas industry and 5 years’ experience within this type of supervisory role. Specific experience and expertise in the following are required:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role;
• Experience of mega projects, onshore and/or LNG preferable;
• Solid technical skills, with thorough knowledge of project control principles and work methods including, Earned Value Measurement (EVM), Critical Path Scheduling (CPS) and Schedule Risk Assessment (SRA);
• Knowledge of project management and project controls principles and concepts;
• Working in a resource constrained environment;
• Strong problem solving and analytic capabilities;
• Effective communication skills – listening, verbal and written. Fluent oral and written knowledge of English is required.

• Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field is preferred;
• Travel:   Travel between point of origin and Afungi site is provided by Client;
• Work Schedule:   Afungi Site, Mozambique. 28/28, 12 hr. workday
