The goal of Save the Children’s work is to strengthen the implementation of the UN Convention on the rights of the child and the respect for child rights in humanitarian law at country level. Save the Children aim is to support governments’ ability to monitor and fulfil children’s rights, improve the capacity of civil society to demand the rights of children, making sure that children have opportunities to survive, to learn and to be protected and that they are given a possibility to participate and influence decision-making processes. The position shall contribute to child protection strategy development, design and innovation, capacity and quality enhancement, fundraising and business development, in addition to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL). In addition, the National Child Protection Technical Specialist shall ensure that all Child Protection programming, be that in long term development or in emergency context, is of excellent technical quality and contributes significantly to Save the Children’s strategic objectives, national/global learning and advocacy. The Child Protection Technical Specialist is expected to provide technical advice and support to the project staff to ensure programming objectives are successfully achieved and National Guidelines and policies are respected. He/she shall also contribute to achieving high programme quality through evidence based work, and/or leading new research around Child Protection programming. Child Protection Technical Specialist must be willing to embrace a child rights programming approach and represent Save the Children in national forums and working groups.
