Enko Education has opened an international early childhood education and primary school in Tete, Mozambique.
Enko Benga International School is an English language crèche and primary school located on the banks of the Zambezi in Tete, Mozambique. The school has almost 70 students but is fast growing. It offers high-quality international curriculum, with great facilities and exciting extra-curricular activities. No class size ever exceeds 24 students and most crèche and primary teachers have an assistant at half-way full. The school has Grades 1 – 7, with Nursery, Pre-School and Reception in for two age groups; 3 & 4 year olds and 5 year olds. A new grade will then be added each year as the children rise up.
We are looking for qualified early childhood educators and primary school teachers who have experience and are ready to intensively and extensively learn and grow.
All teachers will report to the Head of School and his/her designated team members.

Please note that our salaries are modest in comparison with other elite private and/or international schools, but compare favourably with independent schools in Mozambique. In addition, Enko Education will help the selected candidates with temporary housing for the first few months if they have to relocate to Tete. We also provide extensive and internationally-recognized professional development; a major financial investment for us and a significant and life-long benefit to the teachers.
Enko Benga International School is located at Benga Riverside, an integrated community development located in Tete. The property’s first phase is currently under construction and features 70 residential units, a central plaza with a club house and sports facilities, and the primary school with a lower secondary school due to launch in 2020. The property is comprised of 35 hectares strategically located less than 1km from the new bridge crossing the Zambezi. This prime location ensures access, visibility and sustained relevance. The design has been led by award-winner Francis Kere. Benga Riverside is pushing the frontier of sustainable development by integrating intelligent design to cool buildings and by employing bio-technology to recycle grey water. Benga Riverside uses predominantly indigenous material to maintain an authentic feel, re-invest in the local community and keep costs and carbon footprint low by minimizing required imports. The unique and social nature of Benga Riverside has already been recognised internationally. It is particularly exciting that Enko Benga International School, owned by the Viiv Group, is in consultation with Openwell Oxford and will enjoy a partnership with Wellington College in the U.K., one of the world’s top schools (https://www.wellingtoncollege.org.uk) and the support of Oxford University (www.ox.ac.uk), the world’s oldest (est.1096) and most prestigious university in the English-speaking world. A host of high quality delivery partners are also part of the international team.
Students from African countries are under-represented in the world’s best universities. In the US, a country hosting 900,000 foreign students, only 31,000 of them come from Africa yet there is significant capability on the African continent. In contrast, 100,000 come from India, a country with the same population size and GDP per capita as Sub-Saharan Africa. This discrepancy stems from some challenges in the governments’ secondary school education systems on the continent and the affordability of most private and international schools.
Enko Education aims to drastically enlarge access to outstanding international secondary education in Africa, by building one of the largest networks of schools in the region. We designed an international secondary-school model relying on international curriculum such as IB and Cambridge, in ways that make them significantly more affordable than any other international secondary-school.
Enko Education was supported financially at its onset by LiquidAfrica, a financial advisory company promoting the development of the African continent. Significant support subsequently came from the French Development Agency, via Proparco, it’s branch supporting private sector, and I&P (Investor and Partner), a social impact fund focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa. Our network today includes eight schools in Cameroon, Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire and South Africa. We are receiving the university pre-admissions results of our first graduating class in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and many of them are already admitted to universities such as Yale College (US), Imperial College (UK), Toronto University (Canada), Hult Business School (US), University of British Columbia (Canada), African Leadership University (Mauritius / Rwanda), Durham University (UK) and many more. We plan for a strong growth with an objective of having 40-50 schools across 20 African countries in the next 5 years.
