Satellite Operations

Satellite Operations comprises a diverse portfolio of operations that includes a 3 000 km network of natural gas, methane-rich gas, chemicals and fuel pipeline infrastructure, a wax blending plant and two explosives operations. In addition, we are responsible for operating assets owned by two joint ventures, namely Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Investment Company (Rompco) and Sasol Dyno Nobel (SDN).

About the role/ porpose of the job

Maintain Sasol’s license to operate and thrive through the development and implementation of a Mozambique Social Investment strategy and tactical plan that supports Sasol’s business strategy for the country.

Plan, lead and execute Social Investment programs for Sasol in Mozambique aligned to Sasol Global Foundation Social Investment framework, policy and guidelines (as per budget and timelines).

Job requirements

• Please note that this position is for Mozambicans only;
• Drive process of development and execution of Sasol’s Mozambique Social Investment strategy and tactical plan;
• Drive process of development and execution of Sasol’s Local Development Agreements through the Social Investment team;
• Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Social Investment programs against set objectives, standards, cost allocation, timeframes and clients (business units) and beneficiary expectations;
• Drive the selection, conclusion and execution of partnerships and implementation partnerships based on Sasol’s focus areas and programs;
• Participating in budget formulation and tracking the expenditure to ensure cost and benefit balance in the implementation of Social Investment  programs;
• Updating the budget spend in line with project implementation, payments and disbursement of funds;
• Engaging expert knowledge, benchmarking, feedback and advice to improve project delivery to enhance business performance;
• Understanding, support and promotion of the company’s values and goal;
• Designing and implementing projects in line with statutory scorecard requirements and reported in terms of the relevant charters and codes of good practice;
• Ensure that necessary Social Investment governance framework and due diligence process is followed at all times;
• Taking responsibility for understanding and responding to the needs of the clients/customers, suppliers and other stakeholders;
• Attending to enquiries, queries, designing SI solutions and giving feedback promptly;
• Projecting a positive image in all interactions with customers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Social Development, Community Affairs, Sustainability, etc.);
• Advantageous: post-graduate degree or diploma in the same areas;
• Good interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Essential / preferred (optional):

• Minimum 6 – 10 years relevant experience in social development. Good knowledge and understanding of the principles of Social Investment or social work;
• Good project and time management and organization skills;
• Experience with developmental and donor agencies, non-profits and other implementing partners;
• Expert knowledge of community dynamics and drivers of community needs;
• Experience in working with communities and local government in Mozambique;
• Good budget management experience.
