The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Since mid-2017, WFP Mozambique Country Office (CO) rolled out Cash Based Transfers (CBT) and in 2019 is assisting some 500,000 people through CBT in accordance with WFP guidelines and procedures. This work is guided within the CO by the CO Cash/Voucher Working Group (CVWG) which consists of Management, Programme, VAM, Finance, Supply Chain (Logistics and Procurement) and ICT. WFP has been working closely with retailers across the various provinces and continues to increase the number of retailers. However, WFP would like to enhance its work with retailers and look at options of enhancing capacity of retailers to work with WFP for both short term and long-term activities. In 2019/2010, WFP is planning on conducting a comprehensive retailer engagement strategy for Mozambique.
These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) and Country Offices (COs) and Area/Field Offices. Job holders report to Logistics Officer, a Head of Unit, or the designate.
At this level, job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices for all assistance modalities for both WFP and logistics common services. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff.
To assist the standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective and in time payments to retailer and also work on the overall SO operational strategy including the voucher scale-up plans in close collaboration with the Programme unit – CBT, IT, Finance & SCOPE teams.
