GAIN’s purpose is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition. In particular, we aim to improve the consumption of safe and nutritious foods for—at a minimum—1 billion people over the next five years and target major improvements to food systems, resulting in more diverse and healthier diets for vulnerable people in countries where we work.
The focus of GAIN’s Adolescent Girls Nutrition Project aims to improve the diet diversity of adolescent girls through the improvement of certain nutrition practices and behaviors. A Behavior Change Communication (BCC) approach will be used and will be composed of several interventions: 1) Group counselling and mentorship sessions with a set of adolescent girls; 2) TV and Radio spots/programs and 3) Information, motivational messages, reminders through mobile platform, and others (TBD).
The Junior Associate will provide support to the Project Manager in the development of the activities, content and materials, supervision and monitoring of the activities under the nutrition portfolio. S/he will be responsible for modifying the layout of formative research conducted in urban areas of Nampula Province, and will support the coordination and implementation of the formative research to be conducted in rural areas of the province.
In this rewarding role, s/he will support in the coordination and implementation of the pre-test of activities and materials and manage all communications with the design/creative company. S/he will complete a variety of other tasks related to the implementation of the nutrition portfolio of GAIN, and will also support other GAIN programs as required.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of community outreach programs in Mozambique and will have a previous working relationships with different stakeholders from business, government, and the Ministry of Health. S/he will have Proficiency in Portuguese and English. Experience with assisting donor-funded or public health programs is highly desirable.
Ideally, s/he will hold a professional university degree in Nutrition or have an equivalent combination of education and equivalent work experience.
