As we expand operations in Africa, we are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant in Maputo, Mozambique to support our treasury and accounts payable functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day treasury operations, including monitoring cash flow, bank reconciliations, and fund transfers.
- Handle vendor payments, verify bills, and ensure timely processing of accounts payable transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, invoices, payment receipts, and vendor files.
- Coordinate with local banks for documentation, account maintenance, and transaction issues.
- Assist in monthly and quarterly closing processes, including preparation of reconciliations and reports.
- Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, tax laws, and internal company policies.
- Support audits by providing necessary documents and responding to audit queries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (procurement, operations, and logistics) to ensure smooth financial coordination.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in treasury and accounts payable, preferably in the fuel, logistics, or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations in Mozambique.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks).
- Fluent in English and Portuguese (written and verbal) preferred.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
