The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Through its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2017-2021, WFP Mozambique is targeting 932,285 beneficiaries with food assistance. Through conducting the relevant assessments, WFP will determine locations where use of food vouchers is appropriate, effective and efficient. WFP will use its corporate beneficiary management and transfer platform, SCOPE, to register beneficiaries electronically and provide them with electronic vouchers that can be used to purchase food from local markets. SCOPE is WFP’s beneficiary identity and benefit management system that supports WFP’s programme intervention cycle from beginning to end. It is a cloud-based solution used for beneficiary registration, intervention setup, distribution planning, entitlement transfers and distribution reporting. Additionally, WFP is also interested in continuing to improve internal tracking systems to enhance communication flow and management within its offices.
