The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with 191 member National Societies. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (RCRC Movement), our work is guided by seven fundamental principles; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
As one of the five decentralized parts of the IFRC Secretariat, the Africa Regional Office (ARO) leads the support to National Societies of 49 countries through seven Country Offices and six Country Cluster Support Teams. The Country Office in Mozambique is responsible for overseeing IFRC’s support to the Mozambique Red Cross including in implementing humanitarian and development programmes that address the needs of vulnerable people. Since 20 March 2019, the IFRC has been supporting Mozambique Red Cross in responding to the needs of communities affected by Tropical Cyclones Idai and Kenneth.
An Emergency Appeal was launched seeking a total of 32 million Swiss francs with an aim to assist more than 170,000 people. The Emergency Appeal covers response and recovery focusing on the most pressing humanitarian needs of affected communities in cross-cutting areas of focus through Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Coordination and National Society Development.
The Senior Officer PRD reports directly to the Head of Mozambique Country Office (HoCO) and is part of the larger regional Partnership and Resource Development (PRD) team. S/he is responsible for coordinating relationships with donors and partners supporting the Emergency Appeal.
