Highway & Road Engineer Full-Time

Position Description

Saipem is seeking an Highway & Road Engineer with solid experience in road and infrastructure design and construction to join the project team for the Mozambique LNG Plant Project. The candidate will be responsible for technical support on-site, with a focus on design field and managing subcontractors and resolving operational issues that arise during construction. The candidate will also act as the liaison between the on-site construction team and the home office in Milan, ensuring that design decisions are properly implemented and meet technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Management and Operational Support:

• Ensure construction activities comply with technical specifications and project requirements, coordinating with subcontractors and the construction team.
• Promptly address on-site technical issues, maintaining a constant flow of information with the home office in Milan.

Design Optimization and Review:

• Support the review and improvement of road and infrastructure designs, including pavements and facilities.
• Verify the accuracy of existing design solutions, identifying potential issues, and proposing optimizations.

Monitoring and Control:

• Monitor the progress of construction activities, ensuring that project timelines and budgets are respected.
• Coordinate with various teams to ensure the integration of activities, monitoring adherence to deadlines and execution quality.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Interface with project stakeholders, including suppliers, subcontractors, client and the design team.
• Collaborate with the construction team to optimize construction methodologies, including the study of implementation phases.

Technical Skills Required

Infrastructure Design:

• Strong experience in the design of road alignments and pavement superstructures, focusing on international standards and optimal technical solutions.

Design Software and 3D Modeling:

• In-depth knowledge of major road design software (Civil3D, Roads, Civil Design, Open Roads, Navisworks, etc.).
• Experience in modeling and managing 3D design projects, with the ability to understand and resolve issues related to 3D modeling and infrastructure digitalization.

Project Management and Supervision:

• Ability to define and coordinate project activities, working with multidisciplinary teams and managing relationships with suppliers, client and technical partners.
• Experience in preparing requests for proposals, evaluating technical bids, and managing contracts with subcontractors.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage stressful situations, ensuring quick and compliant solutions to project requirements.
• Fluent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, specializing in Road & Highways (Infrastructure and Transportation).
• At least 7 years of experience in the design of linear infrastructures (roads, highways, railways alignment), focusing on construction technologies.
• Extensive experience in pavement design and associated materials, with a focus on optimizing performance and durability.
• Solid knowledge of road design software (Civil3D, Roads, Civil Design, Open Roads, Navisworks, etc.).
• Experience in 3D modeling and managing related issues.
• Willingness to work abroad and follow a rotation schedule.
