GIS Spatial Analyst – Project Services Full-Time

Job Summary

This position is located at Anadarko’s AMA1 Pioneer camp, Afungi Peninsula, Mozambique, as member of the Project Services Team. The Geospatial Specialist position will coordinate, direct and optimize the gathering of mapping & survey data onsite. The position will also provide expertise on data quality and availability to assist the asset team in all mapping and surveying related issues. Manage data produced in the field, conduct user training on mapping systems, and assist in development of field data collection standards and processes.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have minimum of eight (8) years’ experience administering and supporting GIS solutions.  Additional specific qualifications include:

• Extensive experience with administration and support experience with the ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, Enterprise GDB, and Data Collection applications;
• Experience creating spatial data management solutions incorporating and creating data standards and governance documentation;
• Experience leading technical teams and/or multiple projects using Corporate Standards and methodologies;
• Demonstrated results working with business domain experts to research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing spatial data;
• Ability to integrate new data management technologies into existing systems, infrastructure and workflows;
• Ability to initiate and effectively manage communication and collaboration with a broad array of business and IT personnel;
• 5+ years of GIS software experience.

Ideally, the candidate will have an extensive understanding/experience with:

• Field survey collection concepts, technologies and practices;
• Tools and techniques for improving data reliability, efficiency, and quality;
• Experience designing and developing in multiple data migration technologies, including FME, Python and/or Geoprocessing;
• Large-scale systems support, including familiarity with monitoring, logging, and ticketing tools;
• 3-5 years of field experience;
• 5+ years of practical field data collection (surveying or mapping);
• CAD experience – converting to GIS, drafting not required.

Responsibilities

The candidate will work closely with Project Managers within various areas of the LNG project to develop data-driven spatial solutions to support the business.  Additional specific responsibilities include:

Data Collection Process;

• Coordinate with other team members to receive survey data from field activities;
• Communicate with PM’s and Supervisors on data versions and accuracy;
• Coordinate with team members onsite and in Houston, to resolve problems in real time;
• Ensures the data is delivered on time and meets standards for accuracy and compatibility;
• Convert and send data in a visual display for team as needed;
• Loads data into the data to company data stores;
• Identify and recommends workflow process improvements;
• Tests new hardware, software, tools for team data;
• Work with sUAS pilots to ensure data is collected properly and loaded to database;
• Collect GPS data in the field as necessary;
• Collaboration with Houston;
• Works to resolve data issues and problems;
• Ensures standards reflect the workflow requirements of the asset team;
• Identifies and troubleshoots GPS hardware/software issues;
• Recommends and implements process improvements;
• Locates, compiles, and verifies, the team’s spatial data collected onsite;
• Grades the data using the future Data Quality Grading System;
• Prioritizes upgrade list for existing data.

Focal Point for Data Problem Resolution

• Resolve problems related to historical data by field verification;
• Investigate problems and corrects as necessary;
• Notifies Houston team of data or systems issues;
• Works with I.T team to resolve higher level spatial data, hardware, software problems.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, GIS/ Geomatics or related field strongly preferred.
