The General Manager has the overall responsibility to create the conditions for the organization to thrive and guarantee results in terms of cost, profit, recruiting, people and skills development, customer satisfaction and integration of all facets.

Outline of Duties & Responsibilities:
The General Manager is in charge of the P&L and Budget process;
Ensures the efficient and optimum functioning of operations and departments;
Represents the company’s interests. Visits Clients and suppliers regularly;
Ensures timely and accurate pricing to our Clients;
Negotiates with local suppliers;
Contributes to the smooth running of the Group Business Units’ operations and pricing;
Drives compliance in the office to Company policies and procedures, and office practices that contribute to excellent performance of the business;
Guarantees bookings and stock level visibility through relevant systems at all times;
Conducts cargo canvassing efforts either directly or through other trusted parties;
Assesses competition and market movement in order to adjust pricing policies in line with profitability goals;
Operates the business on a low cost basis without compromising safety, performance and service delivery levels;
Drives for maximum site capacity and space by coordinating repair / maintenance with the Workshop and maximising turnaround of cargo, trucks and traffic through the facility by Operations management;
Designs and implements new systems and procedures for the organization and streamline the organization as much as possible;
Liaises with developers of information systems to continuously improve data quality, accountability and productivity, so that customers’ experience of service is transparent and reliable;
Uses existing systems, equipment and proceduresto generate high data quality and reports, and drives the performance of staff to achieve same by training them to the required skill levels;
Complies with selection standards in the recruitment and appointment of staff, and promote the integration of new staff into their duties;
Manage the performance of staff and managers towards excellence through the implementation of the performance appraisal system, training and rewards;
Ensures compliance with Group policies and national legislation;
Ensures that pending legal cases are taken care of in a timely and cost effective fashion;
Complies with the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policy and acts with initiative in the prevention of corrupt, criminal and unethical acts;
Implements Health, Safety, Environmental and Security measures, including the use of PPE;
Contributes to the development and implementation of policies and SOP’s.
Seeks out opportunities, promotes best practice, and drives all-round excellence at Business Unit and Group level;
Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders;
Perform other tasks as may be required by the CEO- Group Warehousing or his/her Deputy.

Hard Skills – Background/ Technical Competences
Academic Background: Degree in Business and Administration, Shipping, Logistics And/or Transport Training;
Experience required (minimum/maximum): 5-10 years, preferably in Transport and/or Logistics; Must have at least 5 years of Leadership experience;
Good understanding of the Business and Business Needs;
IT knowledge: High Computer Literacy of Microsoft Office products (word; excel; power point; outlook);
Proficiency of English language; Ability to communicate in Portuguese;
