In Mozambique, we are working to eradicate early marriage and early pregnancy through projects that focus on adolescent girls in Inhambane, Sofala and Nampula. These projects are programmed along our three strategic pillars: Girl Education, SRHR, and YEE. Our work is gender transformative and includes influencing work at national and sub-regional level.
The incumbent of this position shall take charge of technical aspects of Project’s WASH component under the supervision of the Project Coordinator. Her/his main roles and in consultation with the Project Coordinator and the PA Manager shall include; designing, planning, implementing (technical oversights), monitoring and reporting on the Project’s WASH activities. The incumbent will participate in all coordination meetings between Plan International and the Meconta and Nampula Provincial Government departmental leads/heads, including the international WASH Cluster.
The WASH Officer s overall responsibility shall broadly focus technical oversight and coordination to include planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation, compiling technical documents, narrative reports to build up to the sitreps, quarterly, annual and final progress reports.
The position of WASH Officer under the “TamuJunto Contra a COVID-19” Project will support the implementation of activities as it relates to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in the context the Plan International COVID-19 adaptation and response framework, with focus on vulnerable Internally Displaced People in Meconta District, Nampula Province. The Project require to address COVID-19 prevention, through provision of adequate and safe WASH interventions, including provision of water as a crucial asset to all COVID-19 prevention measures. The WASH Officer will support all the organization’s efforts to address WASH challenges faced by the IDPs. The preferred candidate will support strengthening the capacity of specific WASH needs of the IDPs, including provision of COVID-19 hygiene kits and menstrual hygiene management kits for vulnerable girls and young mothers in Meconta, in close coordination of the District Government institutions and relevant international actors, including the WASH Cluster.

To maximize overall project impact and optimize contribution of others, the post holder will be required to initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships externally with government counterparts, namely the district directorate of planning and infrastructures, local relevant clusters, implementing partners and other development organizations and internally with Program Area Manager.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
The position is based at Namialo. Hot weather is prevalent throughout the year with limited basic amenities. The incumbent will be required to travel to Nampula PA office and perform official responsibilities as required.
The incumbent shall reside in Namialo while executing official duties.
