The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is hiring a Rural Development Officer (Fisheries), for Maputo.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 195 members – 194 countries and the European Union, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide. FAO in Mozambique mission and objectives is to eradicate poverty, eliminate hunger, sustainable management and use of natural resources.
Context
To provide support to FAO team working on the area of fisheries policy and related fisheries regulatory framework in sustainable fisheries and ecosystem preservation, community-based co-management fisheries, market, financing and infrastructure for small scale fisheries, capacity development for small scale and artisanal aquaculture and fishers as well fisheries related project management.

This assignment is funded by JICA, therefore only former Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JICA-JOCV) who could get recommendation by JICA-JOCV Secretariat are eligible to apply. Please check your application eligibility on the JICA website (https://www.jica.go.jp/volunteer/obog/career_support/unv/index.html). The assignment is planned to start October/November 2022.
3 years of experience in – Design and formulation of project proposal for fisheries related activities, either through work history, or practical application of fieldwork. – Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Exchange) etc.
