Project Manager – Airstrip, Roads & Infrastructure Full-Time

Our Client is developing Mozambique’s first LNG Park which will meet the increasing world demand for a sustainable, reliable and cleaner source of energy. They are currently in need of a Project Manager – Airstrip, Roads & Infrastructure to work on a 28 x 28 Rotational Basis and below are more details:

Job Position Summary

This position is for a Project Manager – Airstrip, Roads & Infrastructure working on behalf of the Company.

As a Client project representative there is an implied duty to cooperate, facilitate, encourage and support the Construction Contractor and their Subcontractors to achieve the expected project outcomes.

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the site works are properly managed and executed by the Construction Contractor and their approved Subcontractors in accordance with the Contract Agreement.

This role requires the PM to work and interface with other Client discipline Superintendents, Engineers, Planners, Authorities and the Construction Contractor, to ensure key Contract deliverables are met.

The key deliverables are; safety compliance, environmental management, assurance, budget management and control, project schedule milestones and adherence to project approved and national specifications and standards.

General Job Scope

The general execution scope for the LNG Infrastructure & Utilities Project Manager Site works will includes;

• Site preparation works; grub, clear, cut and fill;
• Temporary and permanent site road construction;
• Excavations, services trenching;
• Underground/above ground utility infrastructure; power, fire water;
• Reinforced concrete foundations and structures;
• Stormwater and drainage network construction;
• Temporary and permanent erosion control measures.

Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for Client oversight of the LNG Construction Contractor day to day management of the works, inclusive of but not limited to;

• Compliance, oversight, guidance and support to the Contractor;
• Support the implementation of the Client HSE Policies and procedures. Provide safety leadership to Contractor to achieve best in class safety performances on site;
• Support the implementation of the Client Assurance program and processes;
• Actively participate in Contractor site toolbox talks, pre-starts and site safety briefings and meetings;
• Ensure Contractor is performing all works in accordance with the approved plans and procedures Monitoring and Review of Contractor related Assurance activities and verification documentation;
• Site surveillance and reporting of contractor construction progress against approved schedules;
• Work closely with contractor construction teams to ensure a concise and clear understanding of all applicable engineering designs, project specifications and standards;
• Complete discipline document reviews and comments for assurance approvals;
• Review design drawings, technical notes, specifications and similar deliverables produced within Discipline;
• Monitor and review construction practices, including design control, document control, interface management and special processes;
• Provide detailed daily records and reports as required by line management;
• Adhere to the TOTAL Business Principles and Code of Conduct at all times.

Specific experience and expertise in the following areas is required:

• Degree, diploma or vocational qualification in a suitable field of study;
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience for civil infrastructure utility works;
• Minimum of 2 years directly supervising contractors and/or work crews in civil road construction, utility infrastructure and building works on major capital projects;
• Proven experience in the construction of roads, storm drainage, culverts, sewer, water reticulation;
• Proven track record of working as a Client representative on lump sum oil and gas projects;
• Proven ability to liaise professionally with Engineering and Construction Contractors and other key stakeholders on site;
• Advanced knowledge of civil construction activities for onshore road networks and utility infrastructure and associated disciplines; survey, concrete structures, structural erection, power, water supply;
• Knowledge of appropriate codes, standards and good construction and engineering practices specifically within the civil, structural, mechanical, piping construction disciplines;
• Advanced computer skills for MS office;
• Proven ability to interpret and manage project schedules and report against field progress;
• Proven ability to manage and influence a team and develop an effective culture through respect;
• Effective communication and leadership skills;
• Team player who is able to foster relationships, and think outside the box;
• Ability to deliver a culture committed to safely delivering the Project targets;
• Ability to schedule priorities and multi-task within the assigned Engineering and Construction Contract packages;
• Able to work autonomously with minimal technical guidance and instruction
