Program officer for Income Generation Division Full-Time

Good Neighbors Mozambique is looking for a Program officer for Income Generation Division to be based in Macia.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan with the community the type of business;
• Carry out a market study for the feasibility of the business;
• Prepare reports;
• Make business proposals/projects;
• Be aware of the logical framework;
• Organize the community into income-generating groups;
• Register these groups in associations or cooperatives;
• Provide capacity building in partnership with key actors;
• Make joint purchase of agricultural inputs;
• Make the distribution of inputs in the form of credit;
• Monitoring of members’ farms;
• Study of the market for purchase and sale prices, research of customers and competitors;
• Joint purchase of members’ crops;Marketing and advertising of crops to customers;
• Joint sale of crops to customers;
• Business evaluation with members;
• General Assembly;
• Payment of dividends to members.

Required

• Degree or technical level in agronomy or related field;
• Fluency in English, Portuguese, and the local language (spoken and written);
• Have experience working in NGOs or similar;
• Having a background in the field of agriculture is an advantage;
• Have knowledge in the area of ​​community development;
• Ability to manage agricultural credit;
• Good interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills;
• Having experience in the commercial area is an advantage.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and to establish harmonious and effective working relationships with community, government officials and other stakeholders;
• The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible;
• Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible, culturally sensitive.

Any Other Special Requirements:

• Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point presentation;
• Training skills, participatory skills;
• Understand agribusiness in Mozambique;
• Understand the context of climate change on agriculture;
• Develop business and financial plan;
• Be available to travel to the field;
• Know how to prepare a community business proposal in a context of associations/cooperatives.
