Monitoring Assistant SC4 Full-Time

WFP is hiring a Monitoring Assistant SC4, based in Xai Xai.

Key accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

1. Monitor WFP programmes in the district(s) the Field Monitor is responsible for, as per the Mozambique Minimum Monitoring Requirements;
2. Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, reporting issues or discrepancies to the Sub-Office for timely resolution of problems and to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards and the relevant Field Level Agreement (FLA);
3. Receive, collate, and, if necessary, follow-up on comments and feedback from cooperating partners, and beneficiaries, to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient operations;
4. Provide guidance for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas;
5. Submit a Monthly Reports of monitoring activities to supervisor, and present this report during Monthly Monitoring Meeeting;
6. Durin emergencies, follow set emergency response processes and procedures for providing emergency food assistance;
7. Perform other relevant duties as required.

Organizational context

To ensure proper monitoring of WFP’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP), the Country Office in Mozambique has invested in bolstering its monitoring & evaluation capacity. This has involved ensuring that WFP has monitoring personnel, called field monitors, on the ground in all districts where WFP programmes are being rolled out.

Under supervision of the Sub-Office Field Monitor Coordinator that the particular field monitors is working for, and in liaison with the other Sub-Office programme assistants, the field monitor will be responsible for the below duties.

Job purpose

To perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.

Other specific job requiments

All preferred but not necessarily required:

• Has performed monitoring and assessments at different levels and field locations in Mozambique;
• Has previous experience in humanitarian or development operations in Mozambique.
• Has general knowledge of WFP monitoring standards;
• Has worked with local NGOs, government authorities and/or other implementation partners from WFP.

• Communication – Strong skills in oral and written communication;
• Analysis – Demonstrates ability to analyse and consolidate quantitative and qualitative information from different sources to help inform WFP programmes;
• WFP Programme knowledge – Displays basic understanding of WFP’s policies and strategies to perform monitoring activities for all programme assistance activities.
• Being able to drive a motorbike is an advantage.
