The CARE International is hiring a Gender and Advocacy Senior Technical Specialist based in Maputo.
The role is designed to make sure that CARE Mozambique’s programming is explicitly focused on tackling gender inequality and power imbalances and is integrated into all of CARE Mozambique’s work, including programs and policies as well as communications, advocacy and learning. The role helps staff and partners to address gender inequity and inequality at the design, implementation, and monitoring stages; so that our impact groups are more effectively engaged in, served by and benefiting from, our work.
Important indicators of success for this role will include an increase in implementation of projects with a clear transformative Gender focus; increased representation and engagement of CARE in relevant advocacy and coordination forums; increase in Gender focused research and advocacy outputs from the Country Office; increase of meaningful participation in decision-making by CARE’s impact groups at different levels (household, public); higher levels of awareness about gender, equity and diversity issues among implementing staff (in CARE and in our partners) and commitments to transformation.
Quality assurance of CARE’s programming and fundraising for gender equality
Representation of CARE at national level with focus on gender-lens in advocacy
Mainstreaming of gender (including GBV) into CARE strategies, projects, programmes and policies
Capacity building on gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s voice
