Mozambique is extremely vulnerable to climate change and is among the countries most exposed globally to multiple natural hazards, with tens of millions impacted by droughts, floods, cyclones, earthquakes and secondary hazards arising from these events over the past 50 years.” The country has suffered from 68 natural disasters, which have killed more than 100,000 people and affected up to 28 million. Worldwide, Mozambique ranks 43 out of 173 countries for disaster risk.
Following Cyclone Idai and Kenneth in 2019, and given the high level of humanitarian needs, WFP has maintained the corporate Level 2 emergency category for Mozambique, following 6 months of L3 Emergency post Cyclones Idai and Kenneth.
Following the emergency response to Cyclone Kenneth, and to respond to growing needs of population displaced by insecurity and military operations in Cabo Delgado, WFP has increased its operations and footprint in the Province, with the establishment of a suboffice composed of 45 staff in Pemba.
These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ), and report to the Head of Unit, Chief, Finance Officer, or the designate.
At this level job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of finance/budget related processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff.
