Cost Accountant Full-Time

Eco Farm Mozambique, Lda.  intends to recruit a Cost Accountant to join the team full time in the District of Chemba, Locality of Tsoni, Province of Sofala, Mozambique.

Position

Ecofarm is searching for a cost accountant who is ready for their next career step. Reporting to the Finance Manager, she or he will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of divisional budgets and financial models, tracking operational costs by division, and analyzing the company’s costs and supply chain to spot areas of improvement.
The ideal candidate will have worked in accounting, have excellent organizational and analytical skills; be detail oriented, knowledgeable about statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

The tasks for which the Cost Accountant is responsible include:

• Contribute to accurate recordkeeping and data entry;
• Contribute to the preparation of financial and management accounts;
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation;
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, including divisional cost allocation;
• Develop and maintain standard costs, with regular comparisons to actual costs;
• Analyze the performance of separate business lines and prepare forecasts;
• Conduct physical inventories and check variances between actuals and stock records;
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

• Relevant Accounting/ Finance Qualification – A degree or Diploma;
• A sound understanding of accounting principles;
• At least 3-4 years accounting work experience – Agro-industrial experience advantageous;
• Proficiency in Excel and capable of handling large amounts of data;
• An understanding of how to combine individual business lines in the overall company accounts;
• Good command of Portuguese and English;
• Confident to follow up and question employees at all levels to ensure the Finance department has adequate documentation for all expenditures;
• In addition, the ideal candidate will have a cost systems background and have experience of Primavera.
