Finance Officer Full-Time

Generic Responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

• Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Assist with the implementation of the finance function portfolio according to plan of action.
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
• Ensure proper filing of supporting documents according to NRC standards.
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the finance function.
• Any other responsibility as identified and assigned by supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

• Day to day responsibility of managing petty cash and cash box for Pemba Office;
• Day to day responsibility of managing cheque payments;
• Perform cash and bank reconciliations for Pemba office;
• Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cash count is done and documented;
• Responsible for the Pemba cash flow and ensuring adequate cash is available for activities;
• Maintain up to date records and project accounts on the Agresso system to ensure timely, accurate and appropriate information is available and reported;
• Assist in budgeting;
• Review payment requests for accuracy, completeness, compliance, level of authorization and clarity on the invoices and seek advice from the finance coordinator (in Pemba) if need arises;
• Ensure suppliers are paid on a timely basis;
• Track cash advances and ensure they are cleared on time;
• Perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor.

• Experience from working as a Finance Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Some knowledge of English.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good in oral and written English and Portuguese.
• Good knowledge of the Cabo Delgado context.
• Minimum of University degree in Finance, Economics and any other related course.
