Environmental and Social Specialist Full-Time

Teixeira Duarte Moçambique is looking for an Environmental and Social Specialist (m/f) with the following qualifications and experience.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences or equivalent;
• Postgraduate Degree in in Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Policy, Earth/Geoscience, project management, social sciences, and environment-related discipline;
• Environmental Management Certification ISO 14001 is an advantage.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and implementation of work processes and systems for the observance of environmental and social safeguards;
• Knowledge and experience in multi-criteria assessment, stakeholder engagement and consultation, community participation, with analytical skills in assessing institutional capacities and designing/reviewing practical implementation arrangements for complex projects;
• Identify and evaluate all the relevant risks and produce detailed recommendations for strategies for risk mitigation in order to ensure that the Project objectives are achieve;
• Relevant experience in counselling for resettlement and social reintegration actions;
• Proven experience in the SAS requirements of projects associated with World Bank or African Development Bank financing;
• In-depth knowledge of IFC sustainability standards;
• Experience in dealing with Social and Gender Safeguards and in-depth training capacity of technicians in these matters;
• Fluency and written and spoken communication skills in English and Portuguese;
