McDermott, as part of the CCS Joint Venture, is executing a major EPC project for a 2-train grass roots Lump Sum LNG project in Mozambique. Position will be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
This position will provide supervision, training and support to emergency response team members for all emergency response related activities.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Establish and maintain effective response plans communication and coordination at all levels of the organisation;
Training of emergency response team members in advanced first aid, first aid, extrication, fire fighting, confined space rescue and high angle rope rescue;
Conduct regular drills to re-enforce training activities for emergency response personnel;
Implementation of protocols for all emergency response activities;
Advising personnel in the area of any potential threat and/or initiate evacuation procedures;
Restrict access to the incident scene and surrounding area as the situation demands;
Taking appropriate personal protective measures;
Take any other steps necessary to minimize any threat to health and safety;
Identify and isolate source to minimize product loss;
Evaluate the Severity, Potential Impact, Safety Concerns, and Response Requirements based on the initial information provided by the First Person On-Scene;
Confirm safety aspects at site, including need for personal protective equipment, sources of ignition, and potential need for evacuation;
Communicate and provide incident briefings to company superiors, as appropriate;
Communicate with Emergency Response Team, as the situation demands.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 8+ year’s relevant experience;
Should have an understanding to basic Rope Access skills including: safety, standards, terminology and procedures, equipment selection, knots, anchors, edge protection, ascending, descending, changeovers, rope, raising, lowering, belaying, pickoffs and partner rescue. First Aid trained;
Needs to have knowledge of the equipment selection, inspection and maintenance; knots; anchors; patient packaging; mechanical advantage systems; belay techniques etc.
Needs to have an understanding in confined rescue: First Aid, pre-planning; supplied air breathing systems; atmospheric monitoring; communications systems; personal protective equipment; patient packaging and recovery; tripods and other artificial high anchor points; lock-out, tag-out; rope systems required for confined space entry and rescue;
Ability to effectively communicate with groups and individuals with diverse functional and cultural backgrounds at all levels of the organisation;
Resilience, flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks daily and under emergency conditions;
Must have Good oral and written communications skills;
Previous experience working on projects across oil and gas and/or petrochemical, construction.
