• Viamo is seeking a passionate individual for a Digital Technology and Communication Manager position in Mozambique

Line management

This is a seconded position to the five-year, USAID-funded Quality Health initiative, implemented by a consortium led by FHI360. The Advisor will work under the day-to-day direction of FHI360’s Chief of Party, while reporting to the Viamo Country Representative in Mozambique.

Project Description

The Quality Health Initiative will support the Government of Mozambique to prevent maternal, neonatal, and child mortality. The project will partner with Nampula Province to establish the province as a model for improving provision and increasing utilization of high-quality, high-impact, patient-centered MNCH health services.

Viamo will provide both technical expertise as well as digital solutions for the project to enhance the effectiveness of the activities. Specifically, Viamo will leverage mobile technology to improve supervision and mentoring of health providers, to generate demand and increase outreach from facilities to communities with social behavior change communication (SBCC), to establish accountability mechanisms, and support improved data for decision-making.

Job Description

1. Technical support and project management

• Be a full and contributing member of the FHI360 project team for the QHI project;
• Be Viamo’s primary point of contact with FHI360 for the QHI project;
• Provide close assistance to FHI360 for the effective use of Viamo’s services under the project;
• Coordinate ongoing planning meetings and progress updates between the Viamo team and DAI;
• Support the development of Viamo’s work plans and deliverables for the project;
• Lead the operationalization of these work plans according to the established timelines;
• Manage the human centered design and research process with Viamo’s Design team;
• Prepare all reports and documentation as required by the project;
• Monitor the implementation of the needs of FHI360 according to the project objectives;
• Inform FHI360 of new services and product improvements;
• Solicit and document feedback, including needs and expectations to inform the ongoing development of Viamo’s offerings.

2. Health Worker Training and Professional Development

• Provide strategic advice on training of health workers and providers via mobile;
• Work with key stakeholders and Viamo team to design, test, and produce high quality mobile training content to be delivered over mobile;
• Conduct training content development workshop with project stakeholders;
• Implement field testing of developed content with health workers;
• Facilitate the training of project stakeholders on developing training content for mobile technology.

3. Social behavior change communication

• Provide strategic advice on SBCC via mobile for FHI360 and partners;
• Work with key stakeholders and Viamo team to design, test, and produce high quality mobile content for targeted messaging campaigns;
• Conduct content development workshop with project stakeholders;
• Implement field testing of developed content with target audiences;
• Facilitate the training of project stakeholders on developing content for mobile technology.

4. Innovation and mobile outreach development

• Provide input for the continued success of the mobile services being implemented;
• Design and lead initiatives to incorporate Mobile-to-Mobile surveys into the QHI work plan to gather feedback from project beneficiaries, collect data from nationally representative cohorts, and conduct field research;
• Document and share lessons learned and best practices from Mozambique with Viamo’s international team of program staff;
• Propose and pilot new service offerings to include in Viamo’s suite of ICT products.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
• Upper level project specialist 4-6 years’ experience leading similar projects;
• Knowledge and experience with the use and application of mobile media, social media and electronic media as it applies to Mozambique or similar countries;
• Strong experience with behavior change communication through new technologies like mobile phones;
• Facilitation skills for planning and running workshops for stakeholders;
• Knowledge of and experience in programming, use and application of IVR-based data collection and usage;
• Knowledge of and experience in programming, use and application of XLS forms and other mobile data collection packages;
• Familiarity with generally accepted monitoring and evaluation methods;
• Mastery of computers and mobile technology, including common software packages such as MS Office;
• Ability to quickly learn and master new software;
• Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
