Plan International is an independent child rights and humanitarian organization committed to children living a life free of poverty, violence and injustice.
We actively unite children, communities and other people who share our mission to make positive lasting changes in children’s and young people’s lives. We support children to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to claim their rights to a fulfilling life, today and in the future. We place a specific focus on girls and women, who are most often left behind.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for more than 75 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
In Mozambique, we are working to eradicate early marriage and early pregnancy through projects that focus on adolescent girls in Inhambane and Nampula. These projects are programmed along our three strategic pillars: Girl Education, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, and Youth Economic Empowerment. Our work is gender transformative and includes influencing work at national and sub-regional level.
The Healthy Women and Girls (HWG) is a gender-transformative Project that aims to improve Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal and Neonatal Health in undeserved populations of Moma, Mogovolas and Nampula city in Nampula province of Mozambique. The Project adopts a holistic approach that seeks to address both the demand and supply-side barriers to access quality Sexual and Reproductive Health/Maternal New-born Health (SRH/MNH) services through a two-pronged approach. On the demand-side, the Project increases the power of women and adolescent girls to make informed decisions and take actions regarding their marriage/union and SRH (1100). On the supply-side, the Project improves access to gender-responsive and adolescent-friendly SRH/MNH services and referrals (1200).
The Deputy Project Director contributes to the strategic objectives of Plan International by ensuring the effective, timely and coordinated implementation of the Health Women and Girls (HWG) project implemented in Nampula province, focusing on the demand side coordinating the activities across three districts. The deputy Project Director oversees the coordination of program planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the demand side.
