Deputy Country Director Full-Time

SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation, working in Agriculture, Energy, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. SNV work in 10 provinces with the Head Office in Maputo, and field offices in Nampula, Lichinga, Quelimane, Chokwe, Chimoio, Caia, Alto Molocue and Maxixe.

The Role

Under the supervision of the Country Director based in Mozambique, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the country’s administration operations. The DCD will ensure the systems are in place (and are functioning effectively) to support high quality delivery of projects and donor reporting. You will be based in Maputo.
Key Responsabilities

• Supervise project planning, budgeting and reporting and contribute to the development of the country’s strategic and annual plans;
• Supervise the quality of project implementation and coordinate preparing project narratives, financial and evaluation reports;
• Ensure high quality of programme reporting data and validation of project results
• Facilitate administrative and financial support to projects and provide solutions to obstacles while proposing and developing relevant partnerships with stakeholders;
• Lead and coach the team of SNV Mozambique, monitor and coach staff to increase performance;
• Steer business development and communication activities of SNV Mozambique, in conjunction with sectoral focal points and project managers;
• Ensure effective functioning of all administrative functions in the front office in terms of logistics, IT, procurement and logistics;
• Ensure country security plan is adequate and implemented.

• Master’s Degree in Project Management, Development Studies or related field;
• Proven track record with over 10 years of experience coordinating and managing operations;
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary and multicultural teams;
• Experience in strategy and policy development in an international organisation;
• Ability to think strategically, to plan and organise teamwork and work in a network with partners;
• Ability to demonstrate neutrality in a crisis context and to move towards consensus in a sensitive situation;
• Proven track record in successfully acquiring competitive funding for projects;
• Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills with experience in profiling an organisation in Portuguese and advanced skills in English;
• Result-oriented and ability to work under pressure;
