The Role
RINA is seeking a Deputy Construction Manager (DCM) to be deployed to solar PV construction site near Pemba, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique for up to 18 months. The DCM will report to the Client’s Construction Manager who will visit the site frequently. The DCM will be provided with a vehicle and accommodation for the duration of the project.
Key Duties:
- Understand civil work, electric installation’ ground work, PV plant construction/installation, pre-commissioning background of the plant’ HV equipment installation and substations;
- Impeccable leadership and managing skills, a strong work ethic, a familiarity with budgeting and a keen understanding of PV-specific terminology, standards and regulations;
- Able to identify, inform, and resolve problems, work well independently or as part of a team, and also work well under pressure;
- Understanding of how to enhance the performance of the team.
Professional Experience & Education:
- Minimum 10 years of onsite construction experience;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong understanding of Mozambique, culture and working in remote areas;
- Experience in at least two similar projects in Africa not in their home country;
- Experience with Internationally financed project requirements;
- Experience in HSE and security;
- Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
