The MENTOR initiative is a British non-profit organization devoted to reducing deaths and suffering from tropical diseases. Established in 2002, MENTOR developed its expertise in responding to humanitarian emergencies, particularly in preventing the spread of vector born diseases. MENTOR currently operates in 7 countries (Angola, Central African Republic, Chad, Cameroon, South Sudan, Syria and Iraq).
In the aftermath of Ciclone Idai, that hit Mozambique in 2019, MENTOR responded to the urgent need of preventing vector and water born diseases in Sofala Province. The 9-month response plan successfully delivered Indoor Residual Spraying in the most remote and vulnerable areas and supported the effective control of tropical diseases.
MENTOR is currently foreseeing an expansion of the previous program in Sofala and is recruiting a Country Director to ensure the organization strategy and programs are adequately implemented in Mozambique in close partnership with local authorities. The position will be based in Beira with frequent travel required to program implementation sites and to Maputo.
