Construction Engineer Full-Time

About this role

You’ll bring your comprehensive understanding of LNG process packages. You’ll apply your previous experience with coordinating agreement on both the interpretation and use of engineering standards, and management of the technical deviations. You’ll have a broad knowledge of all engineering and construction disciplines and the applicable codes and standards.

Your experience means you can provide specialist input to the engineering design, and you are familiar with design change processes. You’ll apply your conceptually thinking skills to monitor the conformance of the EPC designs against the concepts outlined within the project Design Basis.

You’ll have a track record of working as a Company representative on EPC lump sum LNG projects.

The tasks of a Senior Construction Engineer on this project typically include:

• Surveillance and reporting of engineering compliance;
• Design reviews;
• Technical query review and comment;
• Engineering interface for construction package tie-ins;
• Engineering risk identification and mitigation;
• Interface with off-site Engineering management teams as required;
• Assist, guide and mentor discipline superintendents and field engineers;
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GA, SLDs and P&IDs;
• Ability to interpret and manage project schedules and report against EPC field progress.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Engineer has oversight responsibility of the EPC day-to-day management of the works:

• Support the implementation of the Company HSE Policies and procedures, Company Assurance program and processes;
• Compliance with the Company Security protocols;
• Coordinate the engineering elements of the project to ensure that the Company’s technical performance and integrity requirements are met;
• Reviewing calculations, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, drawings etc. produced within EPC engineering deliverables;
• Complete engineering document reviews and comments for technical approvals;
• Collaborate and co-ordinate with other engineers, designers and technical personnel for developing sound engineering solutions;
• Validity and reliability of engineered solutions and proposals by EPC;
• Monitor and report on EPC compliance to engineering design standards and requirements;
• Monitor and review EPC engineering changes, including design and document control;
• Actively participate in EPC site toolbox talks, pre-starts and site safety briefings and meetings,
• Monitoring and review of EPC related Assurance activities and verification documentation;
• Assure EPC is performing all works in accordance with the approved plans and procedures;
• Site surveillance and reporting of EPC construction progress against approved schedules;
• Assist Project Managers as required in the management of the overall Construction program;
• Work closely with EPC construction teams to ensure a concise and clear understanding of all applicable engineering designs, project specifications and standards;
• Provide detailed technical and engineering reports as required by line management;
• Attend Construction management progress, planning meetings and engineering reviews;
• Report all incidents and near misses immediately;
• Ensure that safe practices are adhered to at all times.

You’ll be liaising with other Company discipline Engineers, Superintendents, Planners, Authorities and the EPC Contractor, Vendors to ensure key Contract deliverables are met.

The key deliverables are; safety compliance, environmental management, assurance, budget management and control, project schedule milestones and adherence to the detailed specifications and standards to fully execute the works in accordance with the EPC Contract and EPC Contractor written practices.

About you

• Degree-qualified Engineer in a relevant discipline with minimum 10 years’ experience in similar engineering roles on large scale LNG projects;
• Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer or equivalent membership of a professional body (preferred).

Fluent oral and written knowledge of English (knowledge of Portuguese is advantageous
