Accounting Support Consultant Full-Time

Context

The Accountant Support for Finance Project is a key role in the Finance organization of the Tied Finance Project in Maputo, Mozambique.

Focal point vis-à-vis the Project Finance in Houston, he/she will need to work closely with the team on disbursement process

Role

Responsible for designing and executing the accounting processes related to Total Owner’s Cost data and document preparation in support of the finance disbursement submissions. Activities include extracting, reconciling, providing and troubleshooting transactional expense, payment data and supporting documentation.

This person will also actively participate in the implementation of the SAP Tied Finance Data Repository from a design, test and deliver/run perspective and will prepare a long-term user of the solution as an extended team member of the Project Finance group.

Disbursement Related

• Become knowledgeable on financing requirements and eligibility criteria for categorizing costs
• Design accounting processes for preparing Total Owner’s Cost data and documents
• Run/prepare SAP comprehensive master transactional data extract(s) and supporting documentation (i.e. invoice documents, payment confirmations) on a historical and go-forward basis;
• Perform data validation/reconciliations to ensure data integrity and completeness;
• Work with HR to assess eligibility of personnel costs;
• Support partner/third party audits of project finance data;
• Assist with eligibility evaluations;
• Assist in the identification and documentation (e.g. invoices) for Total suppliers;
• Facilitate any accounting signatures approvals needed;
• Assist with troubleshooting data issues and discrepancies;
• Establish and maintain key validations and internal controls.

Systems Related

Actively participate in SAP Data Repository implementation including:

Design accounting related requirements, system flows and data mapping

• Testing;
• Delivering/run of solution;
• Troubleshooting;
• Attend all team meetings, workshops/demos, etc.

Serve as the ‘accounting system owner’ of the SAP Data Repository and use system to perform accounting activities for monthly disbursement needs;

Retain all accounting documentation for 7 years after final loan payment (~25 years) in restricted folder on Project Finance Document Repository;

Prepare training documentation and train the internal team

Profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting;
• SAP transactional expense/payment data and knowledge of invoicing/payment process, settlement and impacts to journal entries;
• Participating in SAP Data Repository system implementation activities and designing Total owner’s cost processes;
• Support disbursement preparations and ongoing system enhancements (typically after month-end of close);
• SAP system implementations and enhancements;
• Data reconciliations and validations;
• Continuous improvement mindset;
• Fluent English mandatory, Portuguese will be highly appreciated.
