Nutrition Officer Full-Time

Good Neighbors International – Mozambique is recruiting a Nutrition Officer to the Project Named: Classroom and latrine reconstruction and food distribution in public primary schools in Nhamatanda district, Sofala province, Mozambique. Project Period: Oct 1, 2020 ~ Feb 28, 2021 (5 months) – subject to the project approval. Project location: Nhamatanda district in Sofala province.

Background

GOOD NEIGHBORS is an International humanitarian development NGO bringing Good Change for children and communities around the world through community development projects and social welfare program in order to make the world a place without hunger, where people live together in harmony

The object of the project is to improve the access to education among children in primary schools in Nhamatanda district, Sofala province, Mozambique, affected by Cyclone Idai, by reconstructing classrooms and latrines, providing school furniture, and forming School Hygiene Group (SHG), as well as providing food packages for students and conducting balanced diet seminars for their parents. The project is funded by Japan Platform (JPF) and shall be carried out in close collaboration with MINEDH/DPEDH/SDEJT.

Main activities

• To provide food packages for children;
• To improve behaviours of parents towards balanced diet

Responsibilities:

• Supervising the preparation, organization and monitoring of food distribution activities and parent balanced diet seminars;
• Submitting field reports to the Project Manager;
• Coordinating with stakeholders, including but not limited to government counterparts, schools and partner organizations, attending meetings and preparing meeting minutes in English;
• Interpreting and translating communication between the Project Manager and stakeholders;
• Other duties assigned by the Project Manager

Qualifications

• Degree in nutrition/public health or a field relevant to humanitarian assistance in nutrition/public health, Master’s is preferred, but not required;
• Minimum (3) years of professional work experience in the relevant fields;
• Excellent written and oral skills both in English and Portuguese (knowledge of a local language is an asset);
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in all MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet;
• Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; and
• Willingness and ability to live in a rural area throughout the project period
