Based in Maputo, Mozambique Reports to the Francophone/Lusophone Market Group Director Who we are We’re Population Services International (PSI), the world’s leading non-profit social marketing organization. With support from the Government of Mozambique and international donors such as the Royal Netherlands Embassy, DFID, USAID, CIFF and other private foundations, PSI has worked in Mozambique since 1995. We have implemented social marketing and behavior change communications to deliver prevention and treatment products and services across a range of health areas including sexual reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, WASH and cervical cancer. In Mozambique, PSI manages the largest non-state network of family planning clinics supported by 3 donors; manages the leading condom and water treatment solution brands with outsourced sales and distribution through a $100 million annual private sector distributor, applies adaptive learning approaches to develop new approaches, markets and technologies across innovative adolescent family planning, private sector PHC/SRH provision, and cervical cancer projects – all powered by a data driven culture leveraging a range of digital and evidence platforms. PSI/Mozambique differentiates itself by implementing innovative learning programs that inform and scale PSI’s programming, as well as national policy. The program is among PSI’s top CYP performers and has an annual budget of over $13 million. Entering 2020, the platform will have 4 offices in country and 200 staff.
We are looking for a Country Representative (CR) based in Maputo, Mozambique to lead implementation of PSI’s awards in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and partners. The CR should have significant management and international experience, an interest in private sector approaches to development, experience using data to learn and improve performance, Portuguese language skills, and be capable of managing a diverse staff. We are looking for someone with a proven track record identifying, nurturing and of delivering results in multi-million-dollar field offices and fast paced environments under challenging conditions. Your contribution The CR/Mozambique, reporting to the Francophone/Lusophone Market Director, will assume responsibility for the management of PSI/Mozambique, including strategic, programmatic and operational management and oversight for PSI/Mozambique’s contract and grant portfolio. The CR/Mozambique will be responsible for achieving a high level of project performance while assuring compliance with regulations across a range of donors and financial/administrative best practices. You can spot trends and keep the PSI global headquarters informed about health needs and opportunities in Mozambique You are diplomatic in cooling down emotionally charged environments. You are agile in your approach, able to quickly recognize, address and mitigate potential conflicts before they arise.
Capacity Builder. You have experience in building technical, management and leadership capacity.
Collaborative manager. You can inspire a shared vision for the PSI/Mozambique staff. You have successfully helped your staff learn, grow, and thrive in their work.
Natural fundraiser. You have experience identifying business opportunities in the health sector or securing funds from a wide range of donors.
