Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Consultant
For the cyclone and flood response in Mozambique
Cyclone Idai killed hundreds of people and left widespread flooding in Mozambique. Solidar Suisse has been implementing development projects in the affected provinces for many years. Currently, Solidar is implementing a comprehensive emergency and recovery response with thematic focus on WASH and Food Security/Livelihood. The Food Security component aims at strengthening food security of 30’000 affected households in the area of Dombe and Buzi and is composed of 3 Outputs:
The main purpose of the assignment is to develop the detailed design and plan of action for the early recovery of the food security component of the Idai Response Project, to train key staff and provide technical assistance.
Under the lead of the Emergency Programme Manager and in close cooperation with the Idai Food Security Project Assistant, develop the detailed design of the of the FS project component based on the project document, ensuring compliance with the sector strategies and technical standards.
Expected Result: Summary of analysis (2-3 pages), outline of approach and detailed Plan of Action
Expected Result: Detailed description of MEAL system and developed key tools
Expected Result: Assessment report with recommendation (3-5 pages), outline of approach and Plan of Action
Expected Result: Revised organigram and Job descriptions based on results 1 – 3
5.Mentor and develop the technical skills of Solidar Suisse’s project team in the FSL sector including conducting trainings on core topics (food security and market assessments in emergencies to select between cash/voucher/agriculture/livelihood assistance, supporting livelihoods and market systems in emergency/early recovery contexts, cash-based assistance etc.) and regular coaching support
