Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards;
Anticipate operational problems by studying carefully the operating parameters of equipment on HMI and alert maintenance teams and managers;
Diagnose faults on power plant and substation equipment;
Assist on gas engines, generators, transformers and all associated plant equipment maintenance;
Respond to breakdown;
Identify and capture opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability;
Ensure the required standards of housekeeping is maintained;
Accountable for effective Permit to Work system and safe execution of all maintenance and other site related activities;
Interface management between operations and maintenance;
Coordinate with the supervisors on Procedures (creation and revising) to be submitted to Line Managers;
Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment;
Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs;
Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects;
Ensure that Operational Procedures, Policies and Philosophy are applied appropriately to any given Operational circumstances;
Monitor the operation of main and auxiliary plant during normal running conditions including alarms and fault annunciators and protective relay equipment;
Record and report divergences and faults and take action to correct defects and/or abnormalities;
Report on plant condition as required;
Chair and minute weekday Operations meetings;
Prepare reports;
Manage the response to unplanned occurrences at any Power Generation site acting as Incident Controller when required;
Provide training and support training initiatives as necessary to allow for skills, competence and capability to be maintained and developed.
