Mozambique is one of the priority focus country of Global GAIN. GAIN works as a catalyst and follows combined market- based and public-channel approaches to achieve impact at Scale on malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. GAIN strengthens technical capacity, empowers communities, works on just and equitable governance, leverages global resources and facilitates policy and advocacy expertise to end malnutrition.
In Mozambique, GAIN has two projects under the Large-Scale Food Fortification Portfolio: The Universal Salt Iodization Project funded by the Government of the Netherlands, and as a partnership with UNICEF. In addition to the Project under the ENABLE platform funded by Bill and Melinda Gates to Improve the Quality Agenda for fortified foods in Mozambique.. Both projects play an important role in achieving GAIN’s vision of scaling up interventions to improve the nutritional status of women and children by streamlining food fortification policies and building capacity to implement fortification of wheat flour, maize flour, vegetable oil, sugar and iodization of salt as well as improving food quality and safety.
The aim of this internship is to provide the intern with solid knowledge on implementation of GAIN’s large-scale food fortification projects in Mozambique. The intern will be supporting on day-to-day implementation activities as well as undertaking specific technical tasks under the supervision of the large-scale food fortification project manager.
